🇬🇧 The Diario reports that this year’s edition of the Atlantic Festival ended last night, with the pyro-musical spectacle ‘Glorious’ performed by Portuguese company Macedos Pirotecnia, “with an end loaded with light in the head of the Pontinha Waterfalls and very sonorous throughout the Avenue of the Sea”. As usual a few thousand people attended the show on the Funchal seafront.
After the fireworks the results of the competition were announced. First was Poland, which on June 15 presented the pyromusical show entitled ‘Bouquet of Emotions’. In second place was Mexico (June 22nd), with Italy, who opened the competition, on June 8th, third. The Regional Tourism Secretary, Paula Cabaço, presented the awards and made a positive assessment of this edition of the Atlantic Festival, noting the impact of this event on the number of visitors – in the four weekends of June the hotel occupancy rate was around 86%.
“The highlight of the competition was the quality of the three competitors who took part in this International Competition – Italy, Poland and Mexico – and also a word of recognition for their commitment and dedication to the company Macedos Pirotecnia. with tonights extra display” – so to answer the question in my last post it looks like Portugal don’t actually take part in the competetion, instead simply provide the closing display.
