The access road to Pico do Areeiro has already been closed due to the evolution of the flames from the fire that was raging in the high areas of the slope overlooking Fajã dos Cardos.

According to CNN and RTP, traffic on the road is prohibited, as the flames have been evolving upwards, reaching the high areas.
