Der Weg beginnt an der malerischen Casa das Queimadas, einer reetgedeckten Bergh\u00fctte mit traditioneller madeirensischer Architektur, die aussieht, als w\u00e4re sie einer alten Postkarte entsprungen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Von dort aus folgt der Weg einer Levada aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, die urspr\u00fcnglich dazu diente, Wasser von den Quellen von Caldeir\u00e3o Verde zu den Feldern von Santana zu leiten. Auf einer L\u00e4nge von etwa 6,5 km (Hin- und R\u00fcckweg 13 km) f\u00fchrt der Weg durch \u00fcppig gr\u00fcne H\u00e4nge, dramatische Schluchten, dichte Vegetation und eine Reihe von symboltr\u00e4chtigen, in den Fels gehauenen Tunneln, die mit Farnen, Moos und jahrhundertealten B\u00e4umen geschm\u00fcckt sind.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Entlang des Weges bieten sich an nat\u00fcrlichen Aussichtspunkten steile Klippen und weite Ausblicke auf die n\u00f6rdlichen Landschaften Madeiras. Das st\u00e4ndige Rauschen des flie\u00dfenden Wassers begleitet die Wanderer bis zum Endziel: dem Caldeir\u00e3o Verde, einem beeindruckenden nat\u00fcrlichen Amphitheater, in dem ein 100 Meter hoher Wasserfall in eine smaragdgr\u00fcne Lagune am Fu\u00dfe einer mit Vegetation bewachsenen Felswand st\u00fcrzt.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dies ist der perfekte Ort, um innezuhalten, die Atmosph\u00e4re aufzusaugen und die erfrischende K\u00fchle dieses unber\u00fchrten Heiligtums zu sp\u00fcren.
