Hiking Madeira’s Highest Mountain Peaks

This hiking footpath starts at Areeiro Peak (alt. 1810m) establishing a connection with Ruivo Peak (the highest in Madeira at 1862m).

The footpath at times feels like walking in the clouds due to the cloud formation at these altitudes.

Offers great views over Curral das Freiras (Also known as the Nun’s Valley) and Ribeira da Fajã da Nogueira. After stoppage time at the Ruivo’s shelter house and viewpoint, the hike ends at Achada do Teixeira.

Wonderful Madeira Hike

We had a truelly wonderful experience with Marcio from Madeira Wonder Hikes, who took us for Levada walk, where we were shown hidden treasures of the island. The tour was tailored made to our needs and abilities - we felt really taken care off, had fun and saw so much beauty. Thank you!!!
