Leaving Funchal we travel towards Nuns Valley (Curral das Freiras) to a small visit to a magnificent villa with an unique geographic location in Madeira Island, situated in a deep valley that resembles to a volcano crater, although, the resemblance is due to strong erosion only. After this stop we travel to Boca dos Namorados, a viewpoint at 1100 meters over Nuns Valley, allowing us to behold from above this breathtaking scenery. We will follow off-road through a trail that will allow our visitors to feel nature in its purest state, until we do a small stop in a typical madeiran bar to try the famous Poncha: a traditional drink made of Sugar Cane Rum, orange and lemon juice and lemon. After this small stop, we’ll move along the regional roads of Quinta Grande towards Cabo Girão Viewpoint. The highest promontory (sea cliff) in Europe at 580 meters high, offering a vertiginous view over Rancho and Cabo Girão Fajãs (small land planes close to the sea level) and its agricultural fields. Here we also have magnificent panoramic views over Câmara de Lobos and Funchal, be sure to bring your camera! The fishing village of Câmara de Lobos is our last stop. A village where the fishing traditions have been kept through the centuries and are still present in the locals everyday life.
