Departing from Funchal we will climb towards Pico do Areeiro at 1810 meters, it’s the third highest peak in Madeira Island, providing an amazing scenery with a sea of clouds below our height. Afterwards we descent to the north of the Island making a stop in Ribeiro Frio in which we make a small walk to Balcões viewpoint (approximately 45 min). In this unique viewpoint you will find yourself in the heart of Laurissilva and surrounded by a lushfull green scenario.
Back to our jeep we’ll go through Roque do Faial, Cruzinhas and Lombo Galego. Arriving at Cova da Roda through alternative roads and off-road, passing through Pico das Pedras right in the middle of the Natural Park. Heading towards Santana we will visit the typical houses and make a break for lunch.
In the afternoon we drive towards Faial heading to Porto da Cruz. Here we’ll visit the local sugar-cane rum factory. We end our day with a visit to Ponta de São Lourenço, a Natural Reserve with panoramic views over the Atlantic Ocean and spectacular rock formations. An unique sight, very different from the rest of the island.
Great experience
