Why Hike Vereda do Urzal?

The PR 2 – Vereda do Urzal is one of the original “Royal Paths” used for centuries by locals to carry goods between the South (Curral das Freiras) and the North (Boaventura).

It takes you through the absolute heart of the Laurisilva Forest (UNESCO World Heritage). The trees here are ancient, twisted, and often dripping with water. It is a mystical, jungle-like experience unlike the coastal cliff walks.
