3 people were identified today in a prohibited area
The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation found and identified three people today doing the Pico do Areeiro – Pico Ruivo trail. Manuel Filipe reminds that this is one of the pedestrian trails that are closed as a precaution in these days of heat and fire in the mountains of Curral das Freiras and Jardim da Serra. Yesterday, some people were seen doing this walk from Pico Ruivo to Pico do Areeiro.
These actions carry significant consequences. Individuals found in violation of these closures face hefty fines, which can reach up to €5000.

The IFCN (Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation) reports that the pedestrian route PR 1 Vereda do Areeiro (Pico do Areeiro – Pico Ruivo) is temporarily closed for safety reasons due to a rockfall incident. No official dates for the reopening and it's strictly forbidden to go.
