From 9 am on this Sunday and until dawn on Monday, Madeira will be under yellow warning due to the downpours, which are approaching strong and accompanied by thunderstorms.

Another yellow warning will be in force for the strong southwest wind with gusts that can reach up to 75 km / h in the entire Region and at 90 km / h in the mountainous areas of Madeira, namely between 9 am on 18 October and 00 hours of the 20th of October.

It should be recalled that the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere reported that these meteorological conditions are due to “the persistence of depression systems in the Atlantic region in the west / northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and to which frontal swells are associated”. Maritime unrest will also gradually increase from the end of the 18th, the same source said.

A partir das 9 horas deste domingo e até ao amanhecer de segunda-feira, a Madeira estará sob aviso amarelo devido aos aguaceiros, que se avizinham fortes e acompanhados de trovoada.

Vai vigorar ainda um outro aviso amarelo para o vento forte de sudoeste com rajadas que poderão chegar até aos 75km/h em toda a Região e aos 90km/h nas zonas montanhosas da Madeira, nomeadamente entre as 9 horas do dia 18 de outubro e as 00 horas do dia 20 de outubro.

De recordar que o Instituto Português do mar e Atmosfera informou que estas condições meteorológicas se devem “à persistência de sistemas depressionários na região do Atlântico a oeste/noroeste da Península Ibérica e aos quais estão associadas ondulações frontais”. A agitação marítima irá também aumentar gradualmente a partir do final dia 18, adiantou a mesma fonte.
