The ‘tourism Oscars’ once again distinguished the Region that overthrew eleven opponents this evening. Among them, the Azores and the Canary Islands. Madeira has been winning in this category since 2013, losing only in 2015 to Sardinia.

The ‘Best Island Destination in Europe’ award is again ours (Europe’s Leading Island Destination).

This is the seventh prize in this category collected by Madeira, which has been winning this coveted Oscar since 2013. The exception was only in 2015, the year in which it lost the title to Sardinia.

The decision was announced yesterday by the organization of the World Travel Awards a few minutes past midnight.

The Region competed directly with the Azores, the Canaries, the Balearic Islands, the Cyclades, Crete, Cyprus, Guernsey, Jersey, Malta, Sardinia and Sicily.

Os ‘óscares do turismo” voltaram a distinguir a Região que destronou, esta noite, onze adversários. Entre eles, os Açores e as ilhas Canárias. A Madeira tem vindo a ganhar nesta categoria desde 2013, perdendo apenas em 2015 para a Sardenha.

É novamente nosso o prémio de ‘Melhor Destino Insular na Europa’ (Europe’s Leading Island Destination).

Este é o sétimo prémio nesta categoria arrecadado pela Madeira, que tem vindo a vencer este cobiçado óscar desde 2013. A exceção foi apenas em 2015, ano em que perdeu o título para a Sardenha.

A decisão foi, ontem, anunciada pela organização dos World Travel Awards poucos minutos passados da meia-noite.

A Região concorreu diretamente com os Açores, as Canárias, as ilhas Baleares, as Cíclades, Creta, Chipre, Guernsey, Jersey, Malta, Sardenha e Sicília.
