The recommended walking routes, which were closed on December 31st, are already passable.

It should be remembered that the Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) closed six pedestrian routes that day (Ilha footpath, Pico Ruivo footpath, Caldeirão Verde Levada, Rei Levada and the route between Pico das Pedras and Queimadas), due to adverse weather conditions, with the occurrence of very strong winds.

However, given the fact that they are located in areas subject to strong climatic pressure and consequent natural erosion, the IFCN warns of the precaution of walkers when carrying out them, advising them to walk safely, complying with all rules of conduct and safety and never go without a professional guide.
