Searches for a 24-year-old German man who fell overboard on Thursday in São Jorge, Santana municipality, were interrupted and will resume this Monday.

It is recalled that the victim, aged 24, suffered a fall into the sea without having managed to return to land by his own means, being disappeared.

In a statement sent to the newsrooms, the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal states that “during the 25th of October a ship from the Portuguese Navy (NRP Auriga), a vessel from the Funchal lifeboat station with elements from the Institute of Aid to Shipwrecks was engaged (ISN SR-40), elements of the Maritime Police (PM), the Santana Volunteer Firefighters (VHL) with a drone.

Taking into account the visibility and weather conditions that were felt at the site, the vessels that participated in the searches were unable to approach the coast.

As buscas por um jovem alemão, de 24 anos, que caiu ao mar na quinta-feira, em São Jorge, concelho de Santana, foram interrompidas e serão retomadas esta segunda-feira.

Recorde-se que o sinistrado, de 24 anos, sofreu uma queda para o mar sem ter conseguido regressar a terra pelos próprios meios, estando desaparecido.

Num comunicado enviado às redações, a Capitania do Porto do Funchal refere que “durante o dia 25 de outubro foi empenhado um navio da Marinha Portuguesa (NRP Auriga), uma embarcação da estação Salva-Vidas do Funchal com elementos do Instituto de Socorros a Náufragos (ISN SR- 40), elementos da Polícia Marítima (PM), os Bombeiros Voluntários de Santana (BVS) com um drone.

Tendo em conta a visibilidade e as condições meteorológicas que se faziam sentir no local, as embarcações que participaram nas buscas não puderam aproximar-se junto à costa.
