We booked this last minute with This is Madeira island. We arrived, were greeted, given Maderia wine ( never a bad thing) and taken out to sea! The boat was amazing. So comfortable lying on the mattresses at the bow. The sun shone but the wind was blowing! The waves were huge but the crew made you feel safe. After 90 minutes we turned to go back. We hadn’t seen any sea life but the trip had already surpassed our expectations. The crew were so friendly and knowledgeable, answering questions and sharing facts about Maderia and the ocean. Then, the cry went up. Dolphins, a pod of about 10 of them swam alongside our boat and played in front of us. As I said, it was ‘choppy’ but the crew were there to help us move around the boat to get the best possible sightings. It was a lifetimes ambition for me to see dolphins in the wild, I feel so privileged to have experienced this. After ten minutes or so we started to head back, and left the dolphins to their natural habitat. We came back a lot closer to the coastline with the crew again sharing all the facts about things that we saw and answering all the questions we asked. Fascinating knowledge of the island and all in perfect English. There are mixed reviews on here but I can not fault this trip at all. Friendly. Courteous. Knowledgeable. AND WE SAW DOLPHINS. For about £27. A day I will NEVER forget. I saw on here that people complained about not seeing ‘wildlife’ but that’s the whole point isn’t it? Even if we hadn’t seen the dolphins this trip would have been one of the highlights of our holiday. I recommend it to anyone.
