Madeira and Porto Santo are now under yellow warning due to the forecast of strong seas, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

The notice covering the districts of Viana do Castelo, Braga, Porto, Aveiro, Coimbra, Leiria and Lisbon is valid between 09:00 today and 09:00 on Tuesday and is due to the forecast of sea waves, northwest waves of four meters are expected.

The IPMA also placed the south coast of the island of Madeira and Porto Santo with a yellow warning due to sea waves until 15:00 today.

The north and south coast of Madeira and the mountainous regions of the island are also under yellow warning for showers, sometimes heavy, which may occasionally be in the form of hail and accompanied by thunderstorms (until 12:00 today) and northeast wind sometimes strong (until 15:00 today).

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever the weather situation represents a risk for certain activities.
