The Captaincy of the Port of Funchal has just informed that a tourist of Austrian nationality, who was taking the footpath of Ponta de São Lourenço, was rescued.

The 58-year-old victim will have fallen by the Sardinha pier, with poor mobility in his legs. The rescue was made at 10:22 am and the landing took place at the Quinta do Lorde marina where an ambulance activated by the Regional Civil Protection Service was waiting. The victim was taken to the Machico Health Center. The Navy, the National Maritime Authority and the Madeiran Association for Help at Sea (SANAS) were involved in this action.

O sinistrado de 58 anos terá caído junto ao cais do Sardinha, ficando com fraca mobilidade nas pernas. O resgate foi feito pelas 10h22 tendo o desembarque ocorrido na marina da Quinta do Lorde onde aguardava uma ambulância ativada pelo Serviço Regional de Proteção Civil. A vítima foi encaminhada para o Centro de Saúdde de Machico. Nesta ação, esteve empenhada a Marinha, a Autoridade Marítima Nacional e a Associação Madeirense para o Socorro no Mar (SANAS).
