UNESCO used an image of the golden island in a publication made on its website, where it announced the 25 new Biosphere Reserves, one of which is Porto Santo.

It is recalled that, as JM reported yesterday, the Regional Secretary for the Environment, Natural Resources and Climate Change, Susana Prada, unveiled the sign referring to the official announcement of the island of Porto Santo as a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve, in Largo do Pelourinho , Vila Baleira.

The ceremony was attended by some official entities, including the online participation of the Presidency of the National Committee of the MaB Program (Man and Biosphere) of UNESCO.

A UNESCO utilizou uma imagem da ilha dourada numa publicação feita no seu sítio, onde anunciou as 25 novas Reservas da Biosfera, uma das quais é o Porto Santo.

Recorde-se que, tal como o JM noticiou ontem, a secretária regional do Ambiente, Recursos Naturais e Alterações Climáticas, Susana Prada, descerrou a placa alusiva ao anúncio oficial da ilha do Porto Santo como Reserva da Biosfera da UNESCO, no Largo do Pelourinho, Vila Baleira.

A cerimónia contou com a presença de algumas entidades oficiais, inclusive com a participação on line da Presidência do Comité Nacional do Programa MaB (Homem e Biosfera) da UNESCO.
