The test for Covid-19 on arrival at Madeira airports will also be carried out on travelers who are absent from the region for less than 72 hours, said the President of the Regional Government.

“We have to take extra security measures, preventive measures and prophylactic measures, in order to avoid local sources of infection,” said Miguel Albuquerque.

The presentation of a negative test or its mandatory performance on arrival at the ports and airports of Madeira and Porto Santo came into force on August 1, but excluded travelers who had been absent from the region for a period of less than or equal to 72 hours.

“Now there are no exceptions. They can leave Madeira and be on the continent for five hours, when they arrive here, everyone is tested ”, declared Miguel Albuquerque, clarifying that the measure will be approved on Thursday, October 22, at the regional government council, and will enter into force soon .

A apresentação de teste negativo ou a sua realização obrigatória à chegada aos portos e aeroportos da Madeira e Porto Santo entrou em vigor em 1 de agosto, mas excluía os viajantes que se tivessem ausentado da região por um período inferior ou igual a 72 horas.

“Agora não há exceções. Podem sair da Madeira e estar cinco horas no continente, quando chegam cá, todos são testados”, declarou Miguel Albuquerque, esclarecendo que a medida será aprovada na quinta-feira, 22 de outubro, no conselho do governo regional, e entra logo em vigor.
