The Municipalities of Madeira have already established the basic rules for charging tourist taxes in the region’s councils.

In the AMRAM (Association of Madeiran Municipalities), they agreed this morning to charge two euros per night, with a maximum of seven nights.

Now, each municipality will create its own regulations, for those that do not have them yet, and the taxes are expected to be collected from the second half of this year.

Each municipality retains the taxes collected in its area.
Therefore, the municipal councils are not waiving the tourist tax.
