The Portuguese Institute for Sea and Atmosphere (Instituto Português do Mar e Atmosfera) forecasts generally overcast skies with persistent and sometimes heavy rain, especially in the southern slopes and highlands of the island of Madeira, along with thunderstorms on Saturday, January 13th.

The wind is expected to be moderate to strong (30 to 45 km/h) from the southwest, at times with gusts up to 65 km/h, blowing strongly (40 to 55 km/h) in the highlands, occasionally with gusts up to 85 km/h.
In Funchal, the sky will be generally overcast, with persistent and sometimes heavy rain and thunderstorms.

The wind will blow moderate to strong (30 to 45 km/h) from the southwest, sometimes with gusts up to 65 km/h until the end of the afternoon.

Regarding the sea conditions, on the North Coast, waves will be from the west/northwest at 2.5 to 3.5 meters, and on the South Coast, waves will be from west/southwest at 3 to 4 meters, reaching 4 to 4.5 meters in the western part, gradually decreasing to 2.5 to 3.5 meters. The sea temperature will be around 21/22°C.
